This article appeared in The Times on 18th Feb 2011. It has a link to 12 recipes, which I haven't included as it was basically eggs with a whole load of banned substances such as hollandaise sauce & potato! Anyway, the message is simple, eggs are great!
If you subscribe to The Times, here's the link to the article:…

Hello Folks,
In April I am doing a motorbike ride to India. As part of that I am going to raise money for UNICEF and have organised a Social Evening for sports people at Newcastle Cricket Club (7.30 till 11.30). As well as an indian buffet meal, disco, bar and varius raffles, Jim Alder (1966 Marathon Gold etc) and Sharon Gayter (Ultra Runner) have agreed to be speakers.
The cost is £15 per ticket and all the money goes to UNICEF and none towards my trip. Help make this…

Got up nice early and walked down to registration and the swim course, this took around 25 minutes to walk as I was not sure where I was heading.
Once at the start I put on my wetsuit to rec the course and it was cold!!!!! I felt great in the swim tho so that put a little smile on my face. Once out of the water I meet up with Tracy and Ian and had a bit of a chat about the course.
Once registered I headed back to the hotel to change and then go out for a run. I…

Today was my travelling day to the World Triathlon Championships, Budapest Hungary. With me for company was my Dad.

The endurance community have an obsession with developing an 'aerobic base' and I'm just not convinced that it is the only way to get the job done. It's time to free your mind and consider
just for a minute a world where intensity rules and developing lungs like
dustbin liners through slow, steady high volume workouts are a thing of the
past.....I know it's hard to consider but just read this article and take some
time to…

I was recently approached to see if I could help a local reporter get fit for the Great North Run. I was more than happy to help.
The mistake that most runners make when they enter this type of event is that they try to prepare by running. They don’t realise that some time spent in the gym getting strong will not only improve their running performance but will also help ward off niggly injuries that have a habit of preventing many fun runners even…

I first used Ice baths with my athletes back in 2001 and I've written about the use of cryotherapy and recovery and regeneration extensively, but it seems that every year the public fascination grows and it's usually fed by images and articles in the popular press.

Sounds too good to be true...well there may be some truth in the title of this post. Success has less to do with training and more to do with your ability to recover from training. Recovery is essential in a volume based sport such as triathlon. If all you do is train hard then you are missing a trick and will never reach your potential.
See why in the this short video clip.…
